Recap: California vs. Oregon State
LOS ANGELES, Calif. Ryan Anderson exploded for a career-high 27 points and 15 rebounds as the eighth-seeded California Golden Bears breezed past the ninth-seeded Oregon State Beavers, 70-51, in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tournament from Staples Center.
Anderson converted on 9-of-18 shots from the floor and 6-of-10 from long range for the Golden Bears (15-16), who face top-seeded and fourth-ranked UCLA in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Ayinde Ubaka and Omar Wilkes also got involved, scoring 10 points apiece in the win.
Oregon State (11-21) was paced by Marcel Jones, who tallied 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
California used a 34-2 run in the first half to take a commanding 43-25 lead to the break.
Despite shooting just 25.9 percent from the field in the second half, the Bears were able to coast to the 19-point victory.
California dominated the boards, 44-31, while connecting on 12-of-29 shots from beyond the arc.
