NBA Wire Notes | Clippers' Brand has surgery
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Forward Elton Brand of the Los Angeles Clippers underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his ruptured left Achilles tendon.
The operation was performed by orthopedic surgeon Craig Morgan in Wilmington, Del. Elton Brand, 28, injured the tendon during his daily workout Friday.
Elton Brand, who averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, will wear a cast for about six weeks and a walking boot the next six weeks, team officials said. The Los Angeles Clippers have not set a timetable for Elton Brand's return.
Elton Brand's agent, David Falk, did not rule out the forward's return for the 2007-08 season, the Los Angeles Times reported.

• Center Randolph Morris, 21, of the New York Knicks was arrested and charged with reckless driving in Lexington, Ky. He was released from jail on $100 bond.
Attorney Chad Butcher entered a not-guilty plea on Morris' behalf. The judge set a preliminary hearing for Aug. 31.
• The Milwaukee Bucks signed swingman Awvee Storey, 30, to a multiyear contract.
• Center Justin Williams, 23, accepted a qualifying offer from the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 5 points and 4.4 rebounds in 26 games for the team last season.
